Jan Henderikse (Delft, 1937) is an eclectic artist. He began his career as an informal painter. In 1960 he co-founded together with Armando, Jan Schoonhoven and Henk Peeters the Dutch Zero group and began experimenting with assemblages. Later in the mid-1970s he started to be involved in film-making, limited editions and photo sequences and installations.
Art is more an idea than an object, I believe."
The originality of his works can be found in his method: he uses whatever materials, like Industrial products and discarded materials, and produces serial composition that depicts reality avoiding any personal handwriting or personal touch. Similar to the manufactory process within factories, his art emphasizes impersonality.
