Let us tell you more about this edition

Baby in a Sailor Suit belongs to the set of twenty lithographs from "The Storyteller's Enchantments of Zhang Xiaogang", which comes as a limited edition of 132 rare books. The lithographs from the set were inspired by the old family photos and represent Xiaogang's Bloodlines series, where the artist explores the concept of family and collectivism in Chinese society.

"You have to use your imagination to conjure how it was before all this." —Zhang Xiaogang

Baby in a Sailor Suit represents a child, in an intimate yet detached pose, impersonal yet moving and nostalgic. By employing intimate subject matter related to the changing appearance of Chinese “middle class” families, the artist has opened a window whereby Chinese people might reflect upon their recent history and their future.
