Seagull-Alex Katz-1

Alex Katz has been painting portraits for nearly 50 years, synthesizing a kind of color field abstraction with realism. As the artist and his wife summered in the bucolic landscape of Maine, the landscape and wildlife has also become a trademark subject. Seagull is among the many subjects of nature that have most recently captured the artist’s eye and imagination. Dropped against the blue sky, the white of the paper reveals the form of the bird. Is a linocut from a small edition of 25.

“ Main is really a state of consciousness, where I can paint automatically. „
