El Anatsui’s Striped Flags is instilled with vibrancy, embodying Anatsui’s internationally acclaimed sculpture with its striking intricate composition incorporating a range of organic and geometric shapes, such as triangles, parallelograms and rectangles. These shapes, encapsulating bold colors - bright green, red, crimson, yellow etc. are occasionally filled with parallel or intersecting lines with scripts of multiple variations of typefaces. Although Striped Flags uses the grid format that is so common in minimalist art, the project also evokes analytical cubism. Made of paper, printed, hand cut and sculpted aluminium collage with copper wire.
