Progression in gelb, grün und schwarz-Gunter Fruhtrunk-1

Born in Munich, Germany in 1923, Günter Fruhtrunk is one of the most outstanding representatives of geometrical concrete painting of the post-war generation in Germany. Transforming the ideas of Constructivism into a colourful rhythmical pictorial world, by creating a dynamic language of form with vector-like diagonal lines arranged strictly in a rhythmic matter according to their alternating colours. Fruhtrunk participated in Documenta IV and the Venice Biennale in 1968, around this period he was also a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich until 1982. His most conspicuous work was the plastic shopping bag he designed in the early 1970s for Aldi Nord.
