Filament I-Joana Vasconcelos-1

Joana Vasconcelos' creative process is founded on the appropriation, decontextualisation and subversion of pre-existent objects and everyday realities. Reviling of an acute sense of scale and mastery of colours, Vasconcelos' works are full of energy that gravitate between reality and dream, the everyday and magic, the festive and the tragic. Filament I and II, with their sparkling colors and geometric thus unreal shapes, have an hypnotic allure that gently and subtly leads the viewer in an oneiric atmosphere in which he thinks to recognize familiar motifs which, however, cannot be fully comprehended.

“ I like to create a space for discovery, a first moment where you capture what is obvious in the piece, where you can consume it in the first instant. But as you come closer, you discover there’s more to it and you start to deconstruct it. „
